No iPhone 5, but there will be iPhone invisio!
ROTF. Dated. That must be why the recent mobile industry event that Apple didn't sponsor nor attend voted iPhone the best phone on the market.
Well... it doesn't have Flash support, or 4G, or the fastest multi-core processor, or the largest screen!
Now of course, lack a Flash has not been a big deal for me, and just because 90% of the US does not have 4G yet doesn't matter. I know if I see someone with more specs than my iPhone I instantly start having technowhinnieitis attacks and feel inferior... even though my iPhone works great, is fast, has the best screen on the market and iOS is easy to use and work with... does not matter! I want more!!!!
Oh.... I hope you can see the sarcasm! :p
The way I see it is they have a hot product line now... take their time, focus on the new OS's and give us something killer in the fall. I see no downside.

Also, I have been inconsistent in my post. On page 5 or so, I was crying for a roll out, then did a 180 after a little research.
Some call it speculation. It's also more fun if you don't research.
Im going to cut my losses and leave it up to the pros.
I enjoyed the ride. Thanks for the responses!

By separating Server from Lion client, I believe Apple will now pursue the Microsoft line of OS marketing...
We'll have Lion Home Premium (no Server) plus Lion Professional (with Server) and also you can buy Lion Ultimate (32 or 64 bit with or without Server and a new disk encryption facility)
Users of Snow Leopard will be able to upgrade to Lion Home Premium and/or Lion Profession without moving data, unless the data needs to be encrypted by copying to a Lion Ultimate (32 bit only edition) via the 64 bit Lion Home Premium or Professional without passwords and/or data...

I think your right on the button with this one. iTMS is there to support apple products and as such they are going to want to keep it that way.
If its not an updated ipod the only other product must be some kind of video aiport media device that you can rig up to you TV
How many people wants to see a full lenght movie on an iPod? Why watch it on a 2.5'' when you can watch it on a 42''?
Apple needs to introduce a TiVo like box if they want the movie sales to take off.
First of all, this movie service will, just as in iTMS, not be very profitable for Apple.
Secondly, Apple would just be another movie provider if they just offer movies.
I doubt that is something Jobs could live with...

Why is everybody so hung up on the Cinema Displays getting iSight or a new design??
A much more important update would be for Apple to add HDMI support. Without this, you can forget about watching the latest Blue-Ray HD features on your display in full res. Ofcourse this means HDMI compliant Video cards too...
Actually UDI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Display_Interface) is a little more likely at least in the near future (HDMI isn't really designed for computer displays, HDMI just had to low of bandwidth for large/high DPI displays).
Unified Display Interface Technology Overview (pdf) (http://www.udisig.org/news_events/idf_s06_udisig.pdf)
Also last I read the degrading of video output resolution for non-HDMI display (actually HDCP) isn't being leveraged by content providers at this point in time (just to many HD display in the market without proper support)...
HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc players will allow content providers to set an Image Constraint Token (ICT) flag that will only output full-resolution signals using HDCP. If such a player is connected to a non-HDCP-enabled television set and the content is flagged, the player will output a downsampled 960x540p signal. Most high-definition television sets currently in use in the United States are not HDCP-capable, and this would initially negate some of the key benefits of HD-DVD and Blu-ray for those consumers. Movie studios are apparently in agreement to not include the ICT flag on any HD DVDs or Blu-ray Discs until at least or possibly even 2012.[1](source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Bandwidth_Digital_Content_Protection#Uses))

Working conditions are bad in Japan????
Yes, didnt you know?
Every country outside the US lives in poverty, where families must raise 17 children to send them out to work, and must fight to the death over food.

I think you should go get your prostate checked.
Next time I go in for a physical, I'll make sure to get it checked out, after the MBP w/C2D becomes available. I am beginning to get up there in years. :)

I can already see Phil sitting in the audience and then Job's cell phone rings..
Jobs: um..excuse me a sec..Seems I have a phone call..
Pulls out this cool looking cell phone, flips it open and says hello?
Phil: Say Steve, can we have a chat real fast ? then starts up iChat on his iPhone..
Jobs: starts up iChat on his cell phone..
The rest is history :D
That is pure, Apple style right there. Of course, I don't picture this phone being a flip phones. I believe (and hope) flip phones are on their way out. They were a fad, but aren't as practical as candy bar phones. They have more moving parts that can break and take longer to answer, especially if your hands are full or you're driving your car. (All you flip-phone people out there, before you start lashing out in defense, just accept those statements as truth, because you know they are.) Nothing beats hearing your phone, looking down, and pushing a button to start talking. As far as accidently calling people, I lock my phone with the push of a button and don't have any problems.

RIM was the smartphone market for a brief period of time, they really should be doing better than what they are right now.
RIM didn't have any vision, though, and were eclipsed by Apple and Google.
I owned a BB Storm and it was a piece of junk, the Torch fell flat and now the Playbook has been delayed.
I wonder who is going to buy RIM out, they are in desperate need of a hit product. RIM needs a halo product as badly as Apple did before the iPod came out.
Very well said.
One Rim founder spent too much time trying to buy hockey teams, the other founder too much time building science centers .... meanwhile Steve was dreaming up cool products and turning them into reality. Well done, Steve :apple:

Plus there is a plethora of unknown pollution aspects of producing tech products. Tree hugger's would freak
Very true sir.
Do you two have any hard data to suggest this is actually true in this case? Considering this company is planning to expand to the US and China, what evidence do you have suggest that its dangerous?

Now one of the remaining issues would be after taking the iPhone out of the dock, do you just leave the dock or actually detach it and hide it in the console or glove compartment. i am betting that it just stays on the dash--a feature that might concern me give where I have to park from time to time and gps theft seems to be on the rise.
I live in a small city and generally garage the car at night, so I can get away with leaving the dock on the dash on a routine basis. If I do leave it parked on the street over night in a not-so-safe area one of these days, I guess I'll remove the dock and take it with me.
The nice thing about being able to leave it on the dash is I use it more often, for shorter trips than I did when I had a less convenient arrangement -- e.g., if I want music on a trip of five miles, or to use the gps for navigating a country road at night or bad weather, when it helps to know if there's a sharp turn a quarter mile ahead.

I expect Tuesday will be a good day for the fight against prostate cancer (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=32726).
Other than that, who knows? :D I don't expect the thing I lust after -- a Flash-based sub-notebook -- to be quite ready for primetime by tomorrow. :( Or to have anything to do with the theme of the announcement.
I'm betting some combination of:
1) Video streaming router
2) Enhancement to Front Row
3) Videos being sold in iTMS
4) Enhancement of iPods in relation to these features plus perhaps some silent upgrades like capacity on the Nano

Seeing as how the iPad 2 didn't get retina display, I doubt iMacs will.
Imagine the cost of that!!
People will be more willing to pay more for a desktop/laptop than a tablet.

No, "best wishes" for our Japanese friends.
"Prayers" to the flying spaghetti monster are a waste of time - put the people of Japan into your thoughts, don't involve some ficticious deity.
Putting something in your thoughts doesn't do anything either.
Unless you (not YOU, but people in general) hop on a plane and go over there to help, or at least donate to organizations who do, the most people can do is just be (or act) sad and concerned. Even being sad or concerned doesn't do anything for Japan.

I think this implies that they'll be spending more time on Lion. Which they should now focus on in my opinion. I know it's a large company but sometimes you need to dedicate some yourself to one thing at a time. Especially if they want Lion to live up to it's name.

Correct, the villain can only place traps/monsters in empty rooms. Yes, a room can have both a trap and a monster.
thanks.
and if a room has a monster, can the villain add another monster/trap?
another point (more for future considerations), the way a fight is set up now, if 7 people stumble on 1 monster of the lowest possible level (1/1), then even if the battle is easily won by the group (7 AP vs 1 AP), the end result is substantially a tie (monster dead and one hero dead). this doesn't seem right. you should have a situation of "overwhelming strength", where if there is a great disparity in Ap (2-fold, 3-fold?) than the losing party just dies, without inflicting any damage. or something similar
as it is now, the villain is basically guaranteed to kill one or more of the party on round 2, essentially at no cost (depending on how many initial points he had).
And it is completely independent of our actions.
thanks.

Side Note:
While reading different sites about screen resolution and retina display and different Apple marketing "bluffs", I got into this:
http://twek.wordpress.com/2010/01/19/a-letter-to-steve-jobs-about-6-bit-macbook-pro-displays/
Which models are like this?
Is this real or another Apple hate thing?
That's a limitation of TN panels. To get true 8 bit per channel, you need to either go with PVA or IPS panels. It's not an "Apple hate" thing, it's quite true. It's also the reason that profesionals usually work on expensive IPS displays and not the sub-200$ LCD screens you see at Best Buy.
The 27" iMac uses an IPS display so it is not affected, however, all Apple notebooks use TN displays. Laptops with IPS screens are very, very rare. One model HP Elitebook comes with an optional IPS display that I know of.
